OVER THE RAINBOW FESTIVAL
On Friday 8th May 2020, over 50 volunteers including Potters Resort entertainers and special guests took to the internet from their own homes, to entertain the nation on VE Day. The ‘Over The Rainbow Festival’; a non-stop, 12 hour feast of live music, comedy, games and interviews, paid tribute to the heroes of world war 2 and the heroes of today battling todays common enemy Covid 19.
In particular we tried to raise awareness and funds to support the NHS, and NARS Charity (Norfolk Accident Rescue Service).
A challenging target of £10,000 was set, and our amazing guests and facebook community did not let us down raising a total of £11,324 as the final few minutes ticked by. With the Potters Friends Foundation matching the first £10,000 raised, a grand total of £21,324 will be shared between our amazing NHS and the wonderful team of volunteers at NARS, for whom John Potter is patron.
An original song written by Nigel Pattle and performed by Roxy Yarnold, both members of Potters Team, became the anthem of the day and an incredible and moving video paying tribute to the NHS accompanied the song and played throughout the 12 hour marathon which touched the hearts of thousands encouraging them to dig deep and raise over £20,000.
The link to the video and song here in a hope that you too find it just as moving and worth sharing as it really does create a strong emotion of togetherness in this time of need and why we so value our incredible NHS.

BELTON FUND RAISERS reach £20,000The Bargain stall and charity quiz sheets in Belton have now raised over £20,000.00 since June 2006 shortly after the JGI reopened, the figure was passed at the Mammoth Sale at the JGI on September 20th. when that event alone brought in over £280.00 Originally the group ran as The Friends of the JGI and raised money just to help the halls trustees keep the building going but with that on an even keel they reformed as Belton Charity Fundraises so that as well as continuing to support the JGI they now make donations to other village groups and local organisations.
The main sources of income are the monthly stall at the JGI, the Mammoth Sales and stalls at the Craft Fair/ car boots at the New Road Sport and Leisure Centre as well as the quiz sheets set throughout the winter months by Gloria Swan who also sorts all the stalls donations. Other members of the “Fundraisers” are Jack Fuller, (chairman) and Wilma Fuller, Maureen Boreham and Brian Swan, We also have regular help from Eileen Webb and Ron Boreham with extra assistance at our larger events.
The group would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has donated to the stall or supported us in any way over the eight years, we always welcome donations of stock, almost any items are appreciated except those that run on mains electricity and items of used clothing. If you can help please call Gloria on 01493 780776 or contact any of the other “Fundraiser Group” members. At the moment any items suitable for the various Christmas stalls would be most welcome.Congratulations to all involved from the web siteCutting from EDP October 22nd 2014
